Re: Rate to China

A most useful tool for this and future use. The CSS has posted on its website their philatelic database. This includes all China Clipper articles, and a number of others. It can be searched online. I am sure without looking that your question can be answered by one or more articles already published...

Re: cultural revolution stamps and FEC banknotes

Buying/selling stamps unseen is tricky business. Especially when you consider that many GPCR stamps are quite pricey. Might I suggest you consign this collection to the CSS auction? CSS can provide some assurance to both the buyer and seller that the stamps are genuine and the seller will get paid. ...

Re: Scott correlation

You might want to check the CSS website. There is a section there of books for sale. The CSS library often has multiple copies of books and offers them for sale through their website. If a CSS member, you can contact the library and ask to check out a copy. The CSS library is the largest bilingual (...

Re: eBay Sellers - China Stamp Society Findings

I just got a chance to go in and look at these. I encourage anyone thinking of purchasing high value stamps to consider the source, and then to consider expertizing. Yes, I do some for CSS, but anyone who spends large sums needs to be aware that there are really good forgeries out there. Thank you R...

Re: PRC C2 4-4

Thank you for the link Roman. I am surprised that they do not mention the characteristic differences between original and reprint that is listed in most catalogues. But I am also surprised that they mention narrow and wide versions. I had never seen that before. I will have to go back and check my s...

Re: PRC C2 4-4

The 4-4 in the link you sent is absolutely a reprint. But note not PRC C 2. It is a LAS issue in Scott. But note the C2 4-4's are honestly more difficult to see than the 4-3's. The internet is not friendly to high resolution scans. And then we run into the same problem many have faced, posting an im...

A large number of listings in the most recent CSS China Clipper that show ID's of dealers selling forgeries of all China areas.

Buyer beware!

It has been some time since I read these reports, but the Collector's Club website is located at https://www.collectorsclubchicago.org . They have links to their publications and reports at the top. Leonard Hartman is in change of their publications. He can be reached at Leonard@pbbooks.net. If I re...

Re: 2 cent 1898 brown

The Collector's Club of Chicago paid for an extensive scientific study of different plastic materials several years ago. Storage in PVC was absolutely proven to be detrimental. You might want to search for Collector's Club of Chicago if you would like to read their reports which were made available ...

Re: China 1949 UPU stamp

Most auction houses will if asked, allow a stamp to be sent for expertization. If you have the winning bid, ask for an extension. Might I add that it is always best to mention your plans to the auction house beforehand. Some auction houses may have a preferred authenticator but they will listen to y...
