Hotel cancels?

Post by Vilyehm » Sun Mar 30, 2014 6:19 pm

Railroad and boat and even Great Wall cancels I know.

But hotels?

Something xxx VICTORI has been used as a cancel.

The only thing that came up on the net was a hotel.

Know this, anyone?

Can you scan and show us an example?

I can only think that anything xxx Victori would come from Hong Kong and include the full term Victoria.

But hey, this is China, and many things we think initially turn out to be different. Thus the challenge and fun of China.

The Windows Paint program crashes the computer.

As soon as I learn how to do it, I'll crop a pic down to 256K.

The cancel I really want to show off is the SHEKLUNG as 2HEKLUNG. Clearly an upside-down 2 was used for the S!

It was VICTORIA.

One side of the A is darker than the other. I was always seeing this as part of the line separating the location from the date.

When I rotated the O to the top, I could then "see" a two in the date.

And it seems that when I cut, I have to save it as a ping.

There are a few China stamps for sale on ebay with Hong Kong cancels.

So.... not too rare.

The next picture to be sent will be something rare.
