Color Variety

Post by gwill » Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:46 pm

I have CSS # 1193, 5000.00 Third Anniversary of Retrocession of Taiwan, in a blue color instead of violet. Is it perhaps a color changeling or possibly chemically altered?

I say "changeling" every time to odd colour varieties that haven't been noticed before. Either deliberately messed with or accidental, e.g. due to exposure to bright sunlight in stamp shop window. I think the only evidence we can really trust is from when the stamps were freshly issued - if nobody noticed a shade variation at that time, then I think it likely that any striking differences like this must be due to chemical changes since? In my opinion.
