Re: Greetings from Princeton NJ!

Hello Wilbur, You live in a perfect area to collect Chinese stamps, both ROC and PRC. San Francisco or maybe I should say the greater San Francisco area has a CSS chapter, the Chiu Chin Shan Chapter. Here is the last China Clipper entry for them: California, Chiu Chin Shan Chapter (San Francisco Bay...

Re: Greetings from Princeton NJ!

Good comments, hope they continue. CSS can only sell what members offer. So the supply varies greatly over time. I assume you all have checked the standard catalogues for PRC? Scott, but remember it is not a specialist catalogue. Stanley Gibbons, Yang and now the one from Singapore, the CS Philateli...

Re: Toning

It might be interesting to hear what the dealer said was fake. Usually fake material does not come with faults like toning. But eBay is certainly a problem area for most collectors. I am happy that this dealer refunded your money. You must be blessed with good luck right now considering your other p...

Let me be the first to congratulate you!

Wow, Whole Country is Red. And you may see some flaws, but I see a magnificent stamp!

Best wishes.

Re: Toning

Toning, like any "defect," has a variable cost. But any blank statement about that cost is subject to a wide variation. Some collectors will only acquire pristine material, especially investors, and any defect is reason to ignore that item. No matter the cost. Other collectors, usually in the beginn...

Re: Helloooooooooooo

Noooooooooooooo! Don't let the buggers get you down. Just because stamps are issued does not mean you have to collect them all. Pick an subject, or an issue, or a time frame, or some other grouping and start a collection of that. I for instance got very interested in the early PRC definitives primar...

Re: New member

Oh, when I said hard to find, I meant in a catalogue. They do not command a high price. Few stamp catalogues list revenue stamps, and China has over the years produced quite a few. They are considered by many a separate collecting area.

Good luck.

Re: New member

Lawrence,

Those are Chinese revenue stamps, and hard to find, but there are catalogues out there that will help. You might want to post this in the revenue thread on this forum as many people who collect them are just as passionate about them as others are their favorite areas.

Good luck

C - 19 set

There is a lot of confusion about many early PRC issues. For instance, I was recently contacted and asked if I knew when the set C - 19 was issued. I looked at 6 different PRC catalogues and see three different dates: 1952, Nov. 15 in three, 1952, Oct. 25 in two, and 1951, Dec. 14 in one. The xa.bus...
